I had reached the boiling point with my untamable frock! Why is it that you wake up one morning to find your hair has grown three inches overnight and your dark roots are daring you to try and style your hair so as to hide the noticeable overgrowth?! It never works either. Without fail, you show up late to work with your hair pinned in so many different directions because you absolutely refused to wear it down, especially after you got the crease from trying on a ponytail!
This was the state my hair and I were in when I called up my stylist and begged her to fit me in ASAP. I'm usually good about calling in advance but, not this time. I had been talking about getting a hair cut for some time. I just couldn't ever remember to call to make the appointment. Whenever I did think of calling, it was either Sunday or Monday - the only days stylists have off!
I made my appointment and was prepared to tough it out until the day would finally arrive. Much to my surprise, Janet called me back thirty minutes later and said she had just had a cancellation and could I be there in an hour and a half? You betcha, Sister! I can be there in ten minutes if it means you'll put my poor hair out of its misery!!!
I should also mention that my son had found his mommy's hair and just needs to give it a good yank every few minutes or so. This created a need for getting my hair CUT OFF! I've always had enough hair to fit into a ponytail but, not this time folks! My hair is shorter than it has ever been in my life and, I'm lovin' it! I've had lots of compliments on it, which is nice but, we women all know we anticipate hearing what our other half has to say about "the new do". (As an aside here, Chris got a haircut the same day.) WELL! I come home to see my husband with his its-100-degrees-and-I-work-outside" short haircut. And, naturally, I say, "You're haircut looks good. I like it." Now, this would have been an opportune time for Chris to make his comments on my hair.
But, Chris did not say a word about my hair at this time. I handed off the baby to him and, proceeded to the kitchen where I prepared him a most fine meal. I occupied the baby while my husband ate the hot, fresh meal. Then, I ate my food - cold. Afterwards, we watched TV together. Finally, three hours later, while directing his attention to the TV he mumbles, "I like your hair." Okay, yeah, I believe ya buddy!! Whatever....I like it....I think it makes me like it even more that I don't believe his saying he likes it!!! I don't think I'll ever change my hairstyle again! But, I didn't tell him any of that....I just mumbled back, "thanks". And that was that.
